Sadhanapada – A Journey of Life Time

First Visit

On June 15th 2021 I went to Isha Yoga Centre for the first time to attend a 7-month long program called Sadhanapada. A program, extensively based on Yoga, Seva, Meditation and Internal Growth. This program changed the view of my life.

Since I was initiated into inner engineering in 2016, I wanted to go to Isha Yoga Centre but couldn’t go because of many reasons. But this time I took a leap and grabbed the opportunity. I had to leave my job and hear lot of backstabbing but I managed to reach the ashram for the program.

All my life I was a dumbass introvert persona because of which I was restrained to experiment new things. But when you come across the so-called bigger picture the miraculous Sadhguru, you wouldn’t want to mess up with anything and with his grace I could make few good-hearted friends whom I could accommodate in my bigger family.

So, this program starts with an orientation program and the content of this 5 days program was surprising to me. And on the occasion of Guru Purnima, we were officially called the “Sadhanapada participants”

Every year during Guru Purnima Sadhguru keeps a satsang and take us through meditation. But this time due to pandemic I was not fortunate to get the opportunity and we could avail only online darshan. But when he arrived near the hall for the event he went from my side and that sight of him made me crazy for him, he was joining hands and saying Namaskaram to everyone he comes across. and he saw me and did the same. Finished. I was lost then and there. Just like a magic I felt the energy.

Start

So during Sadhanapada we must wakeup early by 4.30 am and by 5.30am we have to start our practices with guru pooja. So, in My initial months, I was doing my early morning practices without fail. But after a month due to my skin problems and health issue I was not able to do my practices early in the morning. But whatever hurdles came I made sure I never miss my Shamabhavi Mahamudra practice even once.

The beautiful thing about being in this type of energy space is if you give totally into it, many things change within you and you start seeing life in a beautiful way. For understanding this you must at least perform one yogic practice which you have been initiated into and most importantly you must not be judgmental.

So, when this was going on the Sadhanapada team asked me to perform Guru Pooja in our practice area not daily but they used to call me on intervals. So the Gopi Anna who was the coordinator assigned me guru Pooja coincidentally only on days which were special like Sadhguru’s birthday, Pournami’s etc. When he used to call or come to me saying that I have to do guru pooja the previous day I would say no but he will say Sadhguru wants so you do. And truly it was his grace.

MID

When I was in ashram, temple was not a daily thing because most of the time, we have to run to perform Seva(volunteering) and are busy. So, whenever I get a gap, I used to go and visit. And in the initial phase of my Sadhanapada the temples would be closed for the outsider on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so those time I used to sit for longer periods in Dhyanlinga as the temple will be still and silent.

During this time, we were advised to eat our meals only twice a day… but my compulsion was such that I have even visited the famous “Pepper Vine” restaurant to calm my taste buds… but tried to control on a later stage.

This was also the time when we had to undergo through various advance program like Anna Seva (only for Sadhanapada participants), BSP and Shoonya, which was a different experience altogether (If I want to share the experience, please comment below I will do it in my next post). I did my first fast during Ekadashi in the ashram which was tough and during Ekadashi we had to go for pradikshna from Dhyanlinga to Adiyogi statue and back to Dhyanlinga. But due to my skin issue I did the pradikshna till my extent possible.

During these days in the ashram, I made sure that I come in touch with earth and because of my companions who made me go on the grass without footwear I experienced Soil in a totally different way. Also, the best aspect of being in ashram was that I ended the 2021 year with a Sadhguru darshan and Nada Aradhana – a Sound offering in Dhyanlinga temple.

END

The last months with the preparation of Mahashivratri particularly being in the Devi Procession was the best part. Definitely I had the skin issue, but I kept all my excuses away just for Devi and Sadhguru which really led to a change. If you have kept yourself away from your ideas and prejudice you will experience the grace.

All the pains and suffering will transform in love and bliss. The kind of love and bonding with people who were there with me in my surrounding was indefinite. I stopped thinking what they will think if I act crazy, and in return we all become crazy and stable bunch of people.

And the best part of whole journey was serving in Bhiksha hall, Sadhguru darshans, Velliangiri Yatra ( Southern Kailash) and Mahashivratri. When I was there in the ashram, I had these wonderful opportunities to be with Sadhguru. But his presence for me is there whether he is physically there or not.

When it was time to leave, we all became very desperate and sad. Not able to control our tears as by the end of the program we all united and gelled up so well. And the last few days I spent my whole time in Devi and Dhyanlinga temple.

Mahashivratri was insane thing, from carrying Devi and dancing and a night fully covered with sand and dancing whole night with sadguru staying awake and dance like there is no other tomorrow…

These 7 months was a ride from intensity, pain, bliss, love and devotion. Frankly I don’t know what had changed but something within me is transformed; the way I approach the life now is totally different.

Sadhanapada

Thousands of seekers

Came into his lap,

Some to find answers,

Some to find their path,

Some to get clarity,

Some to get dissolved,

And so on,

But when he opened up the doors,

All became one,

Which left them into the raptures of ecstasy and bliss,

How to say Sadhanapada is over,

When it has just begun for us.

My Spiritual Journey and My Guru

I don’t know whether I am the right person to write this blog, but I am just sharing my experience of my spiritual journey with this great being called Sadhguru.

My journey of life can be divided in two parallels till I met my Guru. One was totally physical person, who saw life as physical and another was this tinge or a light breeze of something more than life around me. In my house my mom has been a devotee of Shiva and Krishna, and being with her made see something beyond life.

I never believed in some god above, as I was more curious to know about the temples, science behind it and to see life in more depth. But as I read and saw places of worship were thousands of people came every day and cried, I started to have questions who are these peoples who created this spaces, from where they had this knowledge and from whom they get this knowledge. And the answer for all this was GURU. Guru, this one word has fascinated me from my childhood but never found one till everything screamed for him within me.

To know all this, the science behind the temples, the subtle nature of life and a way to become a being of immense capability I started to search Guru. I don’t know from where this was instilled in my life that a Guru is not someone with whom you shake hands with or walk with your chest held high. I started to read about great beings like Adi Shankaracharya, Swami Vivekananda and many more. But all this happened till I was 12 or 13 years after that I forget all this and got involved into the material life.

But once you know that you know nothing about life, life will come and slap you on face. So this happened to me.

I was going through this phase where I was lost within myself. Outside I was fine but within me I was lost I didn’t know what I am doing with my life. And when you lose yourself then it’s an eternal search and most people take another route.  But as I said, there was a breeze in my life which had made sure that I cross all my barriers. But this time I couldn’t find that breeze too and again I started to search someone who can help. I started to see help in friends and family, but they did what they can do.

So, when I lost hope within me and I was about to give up in my life. I just thought of giving a try by doing some meditation. Because it is said that when you are lost, you close your eyes and sit, then you will find something which can’t be lost. And I started to do meditation, but when I closed my eyes thousands of things would pop up and I will lose my track. So one morning I went on Youtube videos watching spree listening to Ramdev baba and many others, but no use as I didn’t understood a word which they spoke.

But after a long search there comes a white bearded man and a turban on his head talking about Inner Engineering with a fluent English identifying himself as Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev . Fascinated by the idea of inner engineering, I attended his program and got initiated into a process called Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya on Sep 2016. In the end of the program 95% people were crying blissfully and here I was having a headache.

Once you do this program you will be told to do this Kriya for atleast 40 days twice daily. So as I was doing that I could see no difference within me but, people who were with me were having beautiful experiences. So I thought something would be there and continued doing that (Ya, I left the whole Inner engineering thing for 7 months that was a different story but restarted after that).

Till 2019, I didn’t have any big experience and the search for guru was still on. But where to go, whom to ask etc all this question was wandering in my head.  At the same time this person called Sadhguru was giving me answers through his Youtube videos but, I wanted to see him physically and see whether he really has answers for all this. So on June 4, 2019 I got to know that Sadhguru is visiting Mumbai to meet the meditators. So I thought of going and that was end of my long search.

When he entered the hall many people started to cry and I was literally irritated by that, but something within me said that “Leave this entire people, you just focus on him, let’s see what he holds”. And by the end of the meet I was yelling and crying, it was like I broke out from a jail or something. I don’t know the tears were of pain or bliss, but I cried like a baby.

Sadhguru has said in one of the video that “The day you experience me more than my body and my words, that day I will be your guru till, then I am just a person”

That day he did nothing, He just said ‘Just be with me’ and focus on your breathe. That’s it, this two things broke everything and I found my GURU in him. From that day till today my life has been a roller coaster ride, but, when you have a guru of his proportions accompanying you then what else you need in life. 99% of my life within me has been fulfilled once he arrived, rest 1% it’s on me now.

I have understood one thing now that a Guru doesn’t come easily, atleast in my life it happened like that. For many people it takes lifetimes of journey to find a guru, and here I am fortunate to have him. I won’t say blindly believe in him but if you are lost, If you want to know the truth and experience life in it’s depth then he has the way, he has the tools.

Sadhguru

A being of immense proportions,
Came to my life,
Taking me out of the pit,
The pit where I lost myself,
And showed me a path to find myself again,
Making me experience life in its true essence,
 Oh beloved,
Don’t you ignore this being,
As he won’t be coming back,
One more time.

Feminine

What’s feminine? Why is it so significant?

When life grows, it’s through feminine only, let it be your spiritual process or your material success if you haven’t experience the feminine then it won’t be an easy ride. In India there are many temples of Devi. Especially in South India, when you go to these temple you will hear the word “AMMA” more in these devi temple, as the word Amma signifies Mother.

Being feminine is not about the body it’s about how you experience life, are you more into the materiality like food, sex etc. or are you looking life beyond this. You can be masculine by body but you experience feminine within you, it’s not that you are becoming female or something. But it’s about experiencing subtle aspects of life which the whole world is ignorant of. When you start experiencing feminine your hidden talents comes out you become a painter, writer, singer or something you haven’t ever thought of.

In India there are various goddesses to whom you can go for help and definitely once you approach them with an inner sanctity then you won’t miss feminine. Personally to me feminine worship has been the significant aspect in my life. Once it touched me, things just changed. There are many stories regarding how just feminine worship has made a person so successful in life without them even asking anything.

Definitely as a life you can’t live without touching feminine either as a spiritual process or having someone beside you whom you love. If you happen to hate feminine you will be a very earthy person as a life.

Feminine

The breeze that flows upon you refreshing you is feminine,

The tree grows defying the laws of gravitation is feminine,

The breathe which goes inside and makes life happen is feminine,

Oh Fool,

Don’t you think that you can live without touching feminine,

To experience feminine you have to break your boundaries.

Relationship

When you see life from a moment to moment basis and start living life in this way, then suddenly you will experience the sweetness in everything around you, especially in the people around you. These people hold certain relationship with you, but the judgement you carry with your past experiences will make experience of this relationship either sweet or nasty or full of hatred.

When I opened my eyes in the world and started to grasp life I saw people judging other’s even if they don’t know them, creating hatred within, bullying for their own needs etc. So I started to see people like this with full of idiotic judgement and opinions, making myself into a negative nut which threw me into the pit called depression.

When you go into this pit then you, suddenly stop relating with everything around you and then there are only two choices either to end everything or start over. Both are a tough decisions to make but starting over is a good one. When you start over then you start seeing life in a different perspective, leaving all the past impressions aside. And this will start affecting all the relation that you hold. You will see everything is just for this moment and once you get into the next moment the last moment is just past.

Same thing happened to me, I saw all this relationship that I hold with everything around me is just momentarily. This moment I am with them and next moment puff, I am Dead this will be a possibility so then I started to enjoy everything and did best what I can do for them. When you taste this moment then you will understand, what the other people who is with you in this moment mean to you. Because there are 7.9 billion people in the world and they are with you here at this moment. It doesn’t matter what they think and experience, but how you are within you is your decision.

So when you experience this then dealing outside become easy, someone told some nasty thing about you then you can respond or not respond it’s your choice. But what’s within you won’t be changing and you will see them as a clear mirror. So when you see them as they are, then every relation will become a way for liberation your friendships, your love, your siblings etc just a door for the liberation. Whether you want to make the relationships as a barrier or a door its upon you.

Relationship

This Sweetness of life,

Shared makes my bond with others strong within,

Oh beloved,

Come and see the life with this sweetness.

Love

Is it something that happens when someone holds your hand or sleep with you or, is it something happens when you find yourself ? Love has been a topic of wonderment to me, as I saw people finding love outside of themselves. Ya, I agree the situations you live in and people you stay with makes some difference but whatever the case may be any emotions that happens, happens within you and you have the choice of choosing whether to choose love or hate.

I am very lucky to be with people who loved me in my all bad and good times, be it be my family or my friends. But for me to experience love was a bit hard, as I always saw love as physical thing. If you do something to someone its love, If you hold someone’s hand its love etc etc, ya all that’s love, but just a small part of love. What’s true love you can’t express you can be it, but you can’t express.

A person become unloving or don’t experience love within them, when they are too much invested into themselves in their own thoughts, ego and what not. So this was my case few years back, a person totally invested into myself. But when you see life within you is not alive totally and you have missed on something then, you see for a path or someone who can help who can show you the way, so when I was in this confusion of death or living, love or hate etc.

My guru entered my life, Yoga entered my life and when I sat in his presence he just broke everything, the walls that I had built for myself to get suppressed and not feel anything alive in this world all those were shattered within me. The experience I went through that day was like immense pain from my heart and from my being by just letting loose everything that I was and what I held precious within me gave me, a sense of love within my being. This sweetness which I experienced was not of an emotional sort but pure life, just taking an inhalation is enough to become loving now.

From then experience of my life just turned inward, this love is nothing but life and if you think you are into yoga or meditation then without love you cannot exist. Love is the “A” of life and there are different facets of life too, but if you are not in love then you will get derailed in life with the body and mind playing games.

When you want to find love then you must look inward and then you will find a way or someone who knows the way will come to you especially, if you want to start a Spiritual journey.

Love

This sweetness of life that you have given,

Is making me mad in love with everything around me,

When I simply close my eyes and just breathe,

I go into the raptures of ecstasy,

Oh beloved,

Let not miss this life,

In the ways of body,

Rather taste bounty of life.

Devotion

Devotion has been the core part of Indian culture. People like Ramanujan, Poet Kalidas, Swami Vivekanand and many more where the ardent devotees. Which became successful not only in their career but in life itself.

When you are in devotion ‘you’ don’t exist then the object of devotion becomes a huge part of you. Object of devotion can be your Guru, God, Work or just life.

Devotion is the sweetest way to live. Because in devotion everything becomes sweet. But to be a devotee you must be like a child not judging each and every person you encounter. You must pull of the plug from the likes and dislike. If you are like this something bigger than you will take care of you.

There are numerous stories of bhakti (devotion) where the god came to rescue for the devotee in their hard times. For example:

Poosalar was a sage who lived in a town in South India. The king of that area was building a huge Shiva temple. After many years of work, the temple was nearing completion. The night before the opening ceremony of the temple, which was the king’s lifetime’s ambition, Shiva appeared in his dream and said, “I will not be able to come to your temple’s inauguration because Poosalar has built another temple in the same town. I need to go there. He is also opening it tomorrow.”

The king woke up with a fright, because after he has strived to build this temple for so many years, after so much money and effort, Shiva says he has to go to some other temple built by Poosalar in the same town. “Who is this Poosalar and which is this temple that I do not know about?” He went searching for Poosalar.

After a lot of searching, they found Poosalar, a cobbler by profession, in a small hut. In those days, being a cobbler was a profession that was looked down upon. The king went and asked him, “Where is your temple? Shiva says he is going to go to your temple, not mine. Where is it?” Poosalar said, “I just built it in my mind.”

Every brick, every stone, he slowly built it for many years in his mind, and that is more of a reality than what you build with stone and brick.

So this is the power of devotion.Be in devotion and let life happen to you more intensely

The Boundless

Life, as in existentially is always one with everything. It is our human perception which thinks we are an individual.

We all capture some amount of life. It is like a soap bubble we blew when we were kids, every time we blew soap bubbles it was bigger or smaller according to how much air it captured.

In the same way each and every human being captures life. It is upon every individual to capture the life in its full intensity if they want to be a full fledged human being or else you can be a mediocre human being.

It is very easy to be a mediocre person. But if you want to become a person which changes every one’s life in a small or big way, YOU have to become full of life with a full involvement and unwavering focus.

It is upon you whether you want to be boundless or be in your own prison.

A human being is like a seed. Either you can keep it as it is, or you can make it a wonderful tree With flowers and fruits.

Suffering

Nowadays, most people are suffering from some kinds of disorders. According to a survey by WHO 450 million currently suffer from mental or neurological disorders (report on October 2018).

Why and What people suffer the most ?

The main reason of the suffering, is due to our memory and imagination. We overthink the stupid mistakes we have done and blame it on others, which is not right and makes others lives miserable too.

Suffering also happens from our compulsive behaviors. For example, If someone has a habit of smoking or drinking and if they did not smoke or drink for some days they may become angry for small things.

If you suffer it is because of you,  if you feel blissful it is because of you.  Nobody else is responsible- only you and you alone. You are your hell and   you are your heaven too.

OSHO

A Dive Into Consciousness

Consciousness as mentioned in my earlier post is the only difference between an animal and a human being.

Devotion is not about praying to god, it is about getting involved in whatever you are doing in life without any sense of selfishness. If you do anything with enormous involvement you will become super human in-front of others. For example, we call Sachin Tendulkar as the god of cricket and Michael Jackson as the king of pop because of their involvement in their work.

Jesus said,” The kingdom of God is within you’. Yoga is a method to Experience the within.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev

Yoga is not about twisting or turning the body, it is about merging with universe. Yoga literally means ‘union‘. Yoga in the world has been done in many wrong ways.

Yoga propounded by Patanjali, Adiyogi-shiva and many other yogis of Indian subcontinent has made it easy. Yoga is an inner science and brings out various methods to reach the ultimate well being.

There are four types of yoga Karma yoga, Kriya yoga, Gnana yoga and Bhakti yoga.

Karma Yoga- If you can joyfully involve yourself in any activity, that is karma yoga. If you do it with great effort, only karma will come no yoga will happen!

Kriya Yoga- With the path of the realization you are not only seeking realization, you also want to know mechanics of life making.

Gnana yoga- ” What I know, I know, What I don’t know, I don’t know”.This Gnana/ Intelligence.

Bhakti yoga- If you use you emotions and try to reach the ultimate, we call this bhakti yoga.

Consciousness, the way to be

As a human just try to be available to that book. Reading it, is your choice but being available to it is the nature’s choice. Do not restrict it by your thoughts and emotion.

Consciousness is the way life functions around you. Everything around us including our body has been made by the five elements- Earth, Fire, Air,Water and space.

What is the Difference between an animal and a Human being ?

We all do same actions prevailing in the nature; but the difference is, we can do it by being conscious while animals cannot. If you become conscious, then many things that you never know will be in your perspective and you may feel like a super human. But it is not about being super human, but to know that being human is super!

The intelligence behind making a tree, body or an animal is called consciousness. In India, there where many wonderful being which made the use of consciousness to flourish human well being.

Swami Vivekananda and Gautama Buddha are among those people. In every person this life force is dormant and many people die like that way only without even tasting it.

How to get into that consciousness ?

Check out my next article.
